Nigerian Authorities Tried to Frustrate Me – Bobrisky Speaks Out After Leaving Country

Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has confirmed he is temporarily leaving Nigeria amid legal issues with local security agencies.

In a recent Instagram post, Bobrisky shared that he decided to exit Nigeria to prioritize his mental health and well-being. He mentioned difficulties he faced with Nigerian authorities, noting he purchased three business-class tickets for his trip, yet only managed to use one.

“Yes, I confirm I’m out of Nigeria temporarily… I need to attend to my sanity and health,” he wrote. “A few Nigerian security agencies tried to frustrate me, but I have God on my side. Imagine buying three business-class tickets, but only one worked out.

I hope @klm refunds me for the two I didn’t use; each ticket cost me N9.8 million. I finally flew on November 3. Before you judge, check your account balance first.”

This follows Bobrisky’s recent arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos as he attempted to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam.

During the arrest, Bobrisky alerted followers online, claiming he sustained injuries and saying, “Nigerians, help me; EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

He was later taken to EFCC headquarters in Abuja for questioning regarding allegations of bribing EFCC officials to dismiss previous money laundering charges.

The allegations stem from a voice note shared by social media critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid N15 million to drop the charges.

Bobrisky was released on bail late Friday after completing the necessary procedures. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the release, though he did not provide further details. Sources report that Bobrisky denied all bribery accusations, challenging the authenticity of the voice note and calling for evidence from the accuser.
