Nigerian Born Researcher, Aderemi Oki, Named Among 1,000 Inspiring Black Scientists In America

In recognition of his exceptional work and remarkable contribution to the field of science in the area of research and discovery, Nigerian-American researcher, Dr Aderemi Oki, has been named among 1,000 inspiring Black scientists in America.

Oki’s laudable feat further underscores the significance and lofty contributions of disapora Nigerians in every human endeavour, not just to their host country, but also towards the advancement of human cause.

From the blistering winter cold in North America to scorching heat of middle east down to the surreal nature of Australia, Nigerians have continued to show that they can hold their own wherever they find themselves and are equal to the task in proffering solutions to nagging and deleterious challenges that ravage the world.

Oki’s achievement is a testament to the aforementioned assertion.

Oki is among Ten PVAMU researchers were recently named to Cell Mentor magazine’s list of 1,000 inspiring Black scientists in America. The list was compiled by the magazine’s Community of Scholars, a group of postdoctoral fellows and early-stage investigators committed to promoting inclusion in the scientific community.

The PVAMU researchers and educators who made the coveted list alongside Oki are on the list are Drs. Paul Orleans Biney, Laura, Carson, Dennis E. Daniels, Marco Giles, Kelvin K. Kirby, Quincy C. Moore III, Judy A. Perkins, Carolyn Williams, and Yolander Youngblood.

About Aderemi Oki

Dr Aderemi Oki is the professor and Department Head of Chemistry and Physics, Prairie View A&M University.

He had bagged a BS in Chemistry in 1980 at University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

He then proceeded to University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming, Inorg. Chemistry, Ph.D. in 1990.
