Nigerian Government Announces Changes in Governing Councils of FUOYE, FULokoja

The Federal Government has announced changes in the leadership of the Governing Councils of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) and the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL).

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, stated that the reassignment of the Pro-Chancellors and Chairmen of the Governing Councils aims to enhance national cohesion and improve governance in these institutions.

Borlowo Folasade, Director, Press & Public Relations of the ministry in a statement said, with the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has been reassigned as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of FUOYE.

Meanwhile, Engr. Kayode Ojo will take on the same role at FULokoja.

The statement said the decision follows the recognition that the previous Pro-Chancellor of FUOYE, Engr. Kayode Ojo, is an indigene of Ekiti State.

“In line with the Ministry’s commitment to promoting national integration and impartial oversight, it is standard practice for pro-chancellors to be appointed from outside the state where a university is located.

“Dr. Alausa highlighted that this measure aligns with the principles of fair governance and the values of diversity and unity in Nigeria’s federal institutions.

“These changes are designed to strengthen the leadership structure of federal universities, ensuring they operate under unbiased and inclusive governance,” the statement explained.

It added that the reassignment takes immediate effect.

The minister assured the public that the changes would positively impact the effective administration and development of the universities, ultimately benefiting the Nigerian people.
