Nigerian Govs To Meet With Bill Gates For Roundtable Talks
Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has departed Nigeria to participate in round-table talks on primary health care and human capital development in Seattle, Washington, United States of America.
Yahaya is also expected to hold meetings on areas of interest with the New York Academy of Science, among other engagements.
The governor left on Monday with the governors of Lagos, Borno, Ogun, and Bauchi states. The team also has the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for the two-day event, which will begin on Wednesday at the headquarters of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
A statement by the senior special assistant to the governor, Ismaila Misilli, reads, “The conference, convened by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Aliko Dangote Foundation in collaboration with Nigerian Governors’ Forum, is expected to feature interactive sessions involving both foundations’ teams, the governors and their state health sector leaders with key federal level sector heads in Nigeria on the link between health and human capital development.
“The conference will also discuss current country performance, benchmarking local and international development indicators, and engage participants in solution-based learning and discussions to co-create opportunities for improved health and human capital development.”
Meanwhile, after the two-day meeting, Yahaya, according to the statement, “will visit the UN Headquarters in New York, where he will meet with the deputy secretary general and heads of key UN agencies.
