Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, said on Tuesday that preparations for the reopening of Kano’s Aminu Kano International Airport for international flight operations had been finalized.
Sirika said all that was needed for the resumption of international flight operations at the airport would be fast-tracked to ensure the start of the exercise when he met with a high-powered delegation from Kano State led by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in Abuja.
According to him, the ministry and its agencies have lost a lot of money as a result of the airport’s ongoing suspension of international flights.
“The suspension did not make economic sense for the government to spend too much money on the airport and then plan to keep it inoperable,” the minister said.

“International flights at the airport, as well as those in Enugu and Port Harcourt, were suspended for health and security reasons.”
He vowed to expedite the airport’s resumption of international flight operations.
Sirika, on the other hand, urged Kano residents to develop activities that would increase passenger traffic and make the airport more viable.
Ganduje had previously stated that he was in the ministry to express his gratitude to the Federal Government for the completion of the airport’s international wing.
