Nigerian international scores hat-trick in Barcelona’s pre-season campaign
Asisat Oshoala continued from where she stopped last season as she scored a hat-trick in Barcelona Ladies’ 13-0 win over AEM Lleida. The Super Falcons star player was in fine form as Iluis Cortes’ side began their pre-season campaign in style. Oshoala only returned to base on Wednesday, July 31, after helping Nigeria reach the round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup in France.
The 25-year-old, who signed a new deal at the end of last summer after a successful loan spell with the Spanish club, scored three goals after coming on from the bench in the one-sided encounter.
Mariona also scored netted a hat-trick as Hamraoui and Vicky Losada got a brace each, while Marta Torrejón, Jenni Hermoso, Graham and Bonmati Aitana were all on the score sheet. Barcelona’s next pre-season game will be against French side, Olympique Marseille before taking on Oshoala’s former club, Arsenal.
The three-time Africa Player of the Year scored 11 goals in eight matches last season, including Barca’s only strike in the Champions League final against Lyon. She will be looking to have a better 2019-20 season which kicks off in September.
