EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), on Monday, revealed that it has launched an investigation into the security situation at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex.
This online media platform had earlier reported the complex was allegedly rocked by an explosion.
The incident happened amid the plan by some lawmakers to impeach the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
There was tension at the complex on Monday when police officers allegedly fired teargas canisters and aimed water cannons at the state governor.
The police, in a statement released on Monday, said it will take immediate action against those responsible for the chaos at the assembly complex.
NPF noted that it will update Nigerians on the outcome of the investigation which is been carried out by Rivers State Police Command.
The statement released on X (formerly Twitter) reads, “We’re aware of the security situation at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex. The Rivers State Police Command is actively addressing the matter.
“We’ve launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances and will take immediate actions against those responsible. Stay tuned for further updates. Your safety remains our priority.”
