He said: “Though Nigeria is tough, your education has equipped you for survival and competition with others. It is those that fail to explore their knowledge through creativity and innovation that would find things irredeemable and challenges unconquerable.”
Mr Obi was the vice-presidential candidate of the PDP during the 2019 presidential contest.
He told the graduands to know that their education could guarantee them jobs, but the jobs were non-existent in the country at the moment.
He added: “The tasks before you are enormous. Nigeria has been bastardized by my generation, all of us, you owe it to yourselves to restore the glory of the country.
Today, our country is owing heavily, the states are owing, most of the debts are to be re-paid in 10,20,30 and 40 years time.”
Meanwhile, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has stated that the fight to curb insecurity and violent crimes in the country can be won if parents give their children quality time. His words: “The only problem we are having in our society is poor parenting, if parents can spend time with their children the way our parents spent time with us, we will not have the kind of society we are having today. There are so many absentee parents in the name of civilization.”
