Nigerian Student Dies On EgyptAir Flight To London

Eko Hot Blog reports that a Nigerian student, identified as Meshioye Remilekun Toyosi, died on a flight from Lagos to London onboard EgyptAir.

The student’s journey took a tragic turn when she reportedly fell sick mid-flight and died at a hospital in Cairo.

The student’s family is seeking answers and assistance in repatriating her remains to Nigeria.

The student’s elder sister, Olufunmilola Olaniyi-Alabi, said that the family tried to contact EgyptAir for information about the student’s death, but their calls were not answered.

“It was only once that a man answered the call that we put through to the Egypt Air Regional Office in London and he said the London office was not aware of what happened and they don’t have information to share with us,” Olaniyi-Alabi said.

The family eventually learned from the Nigerian Embassy in Cairo that the student had died and that her body had been taken to a hospital.

“We spoke to the Nigerian Embassy in the person of Mr Saliu Agraza, who responded that Eygpt Air only informed them on Tuesday that Remi was dead and handed over her body to them but did not have any other information or any contact of her relatives,” Olaniyi-Alabi said.

The family is demanding that EgyptAir return the student’s body to Nigeria and provide them with more information about her death.

“As the family of Remilekun, we are demanding for her body to be returned to Nigeria by Egypt Air at their expense and they should return all her luggage to Lagos where she boarded the plane on Monday, September 4,” Olaniyi-Alabi said.

EgyptAir has not yet released an official statement about the student’s death.

The family has called on Nigerian authorities to investigate the matter and to ensure that the student’s remains are returned to Nigeria as soon as possible.
