- A Nigerian born has a yearly earning of ₦46 billion per year
- He has Greek nationality
- He plays basketball in the United States
It’s not easy to make a living especially in this part of the world called Nigeria. However, people work their socks off to ensure they can earn a decent living.
Doing hard work pays off more often than not and it certainly has for a certain Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo which is originally spelt as the Yoruba name ‘Adetokunbo’, had the opportunity of being born in Greece to Nigerian parents are called Charles and Veronica Adetokunbo, who fought their way to make ends meet for their children while working to gain European citizenship.
By virtue of not being born in Nigeria and unable to gain Greek citizenship automatically by birth, Giannis was a stateless person until he turned 18.
Basketball was a hobby for Giannis and having started a career in Greece with Filathlitikos, he moved to the United States in 2013 to play in the highly lucrative National Basketball Association for the Milwaukee Bucks where he has risen to superstardom with Wisconsin State-based team.
Life has really been good to the Greek-Nigerian Giannis as he recently signed a five-year mega-deal with the Bucks worth US$228 million which is the largest ever in NBA history. If that figure were converted to Naira, it stands at a jaw-dropping ₦46 billion per year.
This contract would see him earn US$500,000 for every game he plays. A basketball match lasts for almost three hours and this would amount to a whooping ₦212 Million for every match Giannis plays in.
Giannis has a girlfriend named Mariah Riddlesprigger and she gave birth to their first child, a boy named Liam Charles on February 12, 2020.
Mariah and Liam will be lucky to have Giannis in their lives thanks to his massive earnings.
