In a video that recently went viral on social media, a young man was seen repeatedly assaulting a police officer who was later identified as ASP Erhator Sunday.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that on 17th April 2021, a police team of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) unit of the Lagos state Command led by the Assistant Superintendent were on a convoy movement to drop off policemen at their various beats across the state when they came across a white Hyundai SUV, MUS 251 EH vehicle facing their convoy on a “one way’ driven by one Victor Ebhomenyen, a 33-year old Edo man along Four Point Hotel, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos state and stopped it.

Reportedly, Ebhomenye who was with his friend Etinosa Obaywana, angrily came down and both confronted and violently assaulted ASP Sunday and his team, threatening to make him lose his job, but the police team professionally refused to react aggressive as they managed to calm the situation and apprehend the suspect.

However the vehicle driver, Ebhomenyen, is currently being investigated by the Lagos State Police Command for driving against the traffic, assaulting and causing severe bodily injuries on the ASP while The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has commended the policemen and advised other police officers to emulate their character and professionalism.

Many Nigerians were really touched by how the Police man reacted to the abuse and insult. A Facebook User identified as Ugo Egbujo immediately raised an idea that the Officer should be rewarded for his high level of professionalism in order to encourage him.

He started a donation fund for the Officer for maintaining his composure even as he was violently assaulted by the traffic offenders.

The donation started on Saturday and the man who started the donation took to his page some hours ago to announce that over N450, 000 has been raised for the officer.

The donation is expected to end on Tuesday and the money will be given to the Officer on Wednesday afternoon.
