EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yabagi Sani, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to take further action against those allegedly planning to install an interim government in Nigeria.
This comes after the DSS issued a statement on Wednesday, March 29, stating that it had uncovered a plot by “misguided” political actors to set aside the constitution and install an interim government in the country ahead of the May 29 inauguration of the new government.

In an interview with Channels Television, Sani, who is also the chairman of the African Development Party (ADP), expressed his disappointment with the DSS for merely announcing the plot without taking any concrete action. He urged the security agency to name and apprehend those behind the alleged plan to demonstrate that nobody is above the law and serve as a deterrent to others.
Sani stated that the DSS, as an agency responsible for gathering intelligence and passing it on to other agencies, should not limit its efforts to making announcements.
He stressed that the agency should take decisive action against the plotters, such as making arrests or initiating interrogations. He also cited the recent events in the United States when former President Donald Trump attempted to interrupt President Joe Biden’s inauguration, where law enforcement agencies took prompt action.
The IPAC chairman emphasized that the country’s law enforcement agencies must demonstrate their commitment to upholding the rule of law and preventing any attempt to scuttle democracy. He added that it is not enough to make announcements without taking concrete action.
