Nigerians Resume Calls For Leah Sharibu's Rescue After Katsina Schoolboys' Release

Reactions have begun trailing the release of the over 300 abducted schoolboys from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State barely 24 hours after the students regained their freedom.

The students were forcefully taken from their school dormitory last week by armed bandits terrorising Northwest states, including Katsina.

However, Nigerians have begun calling on the federal government to secure the release of other victims being held captive either by bandits or the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Leading the charge is a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, who has renewed her demand for the release of schoolgirls kidnapped in Chibok and Dapchi, especially Leah Sharibu, who is the only Dapchi Schoolgirl still held by her abductors.

“We rejoice in the freedom of our innocent #KankaraBoys! But, Nigeria is not being governed at all now.

“All the characteristics of a Failing State are evident in this country and must be averted by citizens,” her tweet read in part.

Continuing, she added: “Imagine the depth of incompetence that produces the kind of monumental failure of intelligence and security that again made #KankaraBoys abduction possible at all!

“Where are the remaining 112 #ChibokGirls and the only remaining #DapchiGirls, #LeahSharibu who is a Prisoner of Faith?”

Netizens have also lent their voices in calling for the immediate and unconditional release of the schoolgirl, with the #LeahSharibu garnering over a thousand tweets on Twitter.
