Nigerians on popular social media platform, Twitter, have initiated an online campaign demanding the resignation of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, over alleged links with terrorist groups.
The social media users are contending that the minister cannot be trusted with the data of Nigerians, especially with the ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise under his watch.
Series of audio recording from sermons delivered by the Minister who is also an Islamic preacher have surfaced online over a couple of days.
Peoples Gazette, an online medium, had quoted Pantami as saying that he was always happy when infidels were massacred.

Also, he reportedly expressed displeasure at a military campaign carried out on hideouts of Boko Haram insurgents by Army troops during the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration, describing the extermination of the deadly terrorist group as “extrajudicial killing”.
In a swift reaction to the damning audio evidences published by Peoples Gazette, Nigerians on Twitter have begun criticising the Federal Government, demanding the Minister’s resignation.
Some users argued that sacking minister is not the only solution but also ensuring the safety of the data of which he has been a custodian since he was appointed Minister in 2019.
Eko Hot Blog monitored the #PantamiResign campaign which has since garnered about 25,000 tweets and culled some comments:
