The Indonesian anti-narcotics agency BNN does not have enough resources to monitor the country’s endless miles of coastline, through which marijuana, ecstasy, meth, and heroin manage to slip through with regularity.
This should not be taken as a green light to indulge, though.
The Indonesian authorities are ready to make an example of foreigners who use illegal drugs in their jurisdiction.

Michael Titus Igweh: Izuchukwu F. Ezimoha
He was a 35-year old Nigerian who got executed for drug trafficking in Indonesia, Michael Titus and 2 other Nigerians were convicted and executed by firing squad.
The sister in law of Micheal alleged that the police applied electricity to his private part to force him to confess to carrying heroin, and it was reported that his last request was just to see his wife and family members one last time.
Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi
Tochi was a 21 year old who was hanged after he was arrested for drug trafficking, Tochi was born in Nigeria but was given to his relatives at the age of five years old.
In an interview which he was featured, he said that his brother left school to support their father, his dreams was to become a footballer but that didn’t work out.
He was deceived by one Mr Smith to deliver some herbs to someone unknown to him that he was carrying tons of heroin into that country.
Malachy Okeke Nelson
Nelson was found guilty and was later convicted in Singapore by the government, he was said to have been involved with Amara Tochi who was said to have brought the drugs without knowing that they were drugs, Nelson was the person whom Tochi’s was meant to deliver the drugs to.
The 36 year old was executed along with Tochi in the maximum security changi prison, activists were said to have held a night vigil outside the prison where they were executed.
Okwudili Ayotanze
Okwudili Ayotanze was a gospel singer who got arrested and executed in Indonesia for trafficking of drugs, he was caught in 2001 when he tried to smuggle about 1.15 kilograms of heroin from Pakistan.
He and eight other people were executed by firing squad in 2005 of April 28 in a prison island.
Sylvester Obiekwe Nwolise
Sylvester was a Nigerian man who was born on 7th of July 1965, he was convicted and sentenced to death in 2004 and it was also reported that his clemency (appealing, begging) were rejected.
He was charged for trafficking about 2.61b of heroin through Sukarno hatta airport in 2002.
