The Honorable Commissioner representing Lagos State at the Federal Character Commission, AbdulWasiu Kayode Bawa-Allah, has called on Nigerians to remain undaunted and strong.
Bawa-Allah gave this charge in his message to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.
He reflected on the importance of Nigeria’s diversity and how it has contributed to the nation’s success.
In his statement, Bawa-Allah said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stressed Nigeria’s need to remain united. Bawa-Allah echoed this sentiment, calling for continuous improvement in ensuring all Nigerians feel a sense of belonging.
“Nigeria, one of the most heterogeneous nations in the world, is blessed with diversity; the many shades of the nation are its strength.
“While we are challenged, we remain undaunted and strong. Our resilience is a lesson for other nations that look up to us and respect our unbroken spirit.
“The Federal Character Commission is charged with the onerous task of ensuring a sense of belonging and fostering national loyalty.
While this is still a work in progress, the gains of years past have certainly contributed to this indivisible nation.
“The President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has pledged in his speech that Nigeria must remain unbroken.
Hence, the work of continuous improvement and strict implementation of the constitutional mandate of Federal Character is a task that must be done.
To this end, I seek the support and commitment of the people of Lagos State and my colleagues.
“I congratulate all of us for the gift of life and the opportunity to witness 64 years of Green and White. I pray for a better and brighter future where all Nigerians feel a true sense of belonging.”
