EKO HOT BLOG reports that the United Nations (UN) has reappointed Amina Mohammed as Deputy Secretary-General.

Secretary-General António Guterres had announced that Mohammed will continue in the role during his second term.

The Nigerian heads development coordination at the world body undergoing reform.

Amina Mohammed has worked for the actualization of UN calls on Member States for the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Guterres hailed his deputy’s leadership of the Sustainable Development Group, determination to reinforce results and maximization of the UN development system.

Before her designation in January 2017, Ms. Mohammed was Minister of Environment and Special Adviser to ex-Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Post-2015 Development Planning.

She served as Presidential Adviser on the Millennium Development Goals, advising on poverty alleviation, public sector reform and sustainable development.
