Nigeria’s Insurgency War Gains Traction As Troops Inflict Heavy Casualties On Boko Haram
The Nigeria military appears to be making massive inroad in its war against terrorism after lowdown of happenings from the flashpoint of terrorism showed the Nigerian troops routing the Insurgents.
Giving a breakdown of event in the war front, the armed forces disclosed that three hundred and forty-three members of the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), as well as 19 of the sect leaders were killed in different onslaught and offensive in the last two months.

In a coordinated slew of operations aimed tackling insecurity, troops also neutralise 153 bandits in operations in the Northeast and other parts of the country in the period under review.
Oil thieves were apprehended, while kidnap victims were rescued within the period.
The Coordinator Defence Media Operations, John Enenche, who gave the breakdown to Defence correspondents in Abuja, said the records are pointers to the fact that the Armed Forces of Nigeria was winning the war against the enemies of our great country.
He averred that operation has decimated the country’s enemy and economic saboteurs.
He added that the two months operational activities breakdown was between March 18 and May 5.
He said: “As you are aware, the Armed Forces of Nigeria is conducting major operations across the country. Consequently, regular updates of our efforts and progress need to be disseminated to the public. For the benefit of doubt, it is a joint effort of the Army, Navy, Air Force and other security agencies.
“I am to state that these operations have degraded the common enemies of Nigeria and reduced economic sabotage in our Exclusive Economic Zone. The update will cover our operational activities from March 18 to May 5, 2020.”
Enenche said villages that were raided by the marauding insurgents during the period were rescued and normalcy had returned to the area.
Enenche disclosed that: “Within the period under review, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE put in a high professional effort with glaring success. Some villages that were attacked during the period were rescued by our gallant troops and normalcy returned to the affected areas. A number of intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance missions were conducted, which revealed criminal hideouts and their activities. Consequently, air interdictions were conducted, which led to the destruction of several BHT logistics facilities and compounds, housing some of their leaders including Abu Usamah and a number of their fighters, who were eliminated.”
