The Magpies have also been looking at the sporting director role, and sources have confirmed that a handful of people have been spoken to.
Michael Emenalo, has emerged as a front-runner to take over the role at Newcastle United.
Emenalo built a stellar reputation within the game during his time as sporting director at Chelsea, and harnessed the club’s ability to create youth academy products to great success.
He was also responsible for bringing in the likes of Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabrigas, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Luakaku while at Stamford Bridge.
Emenalo, who has been out of work since leaving Monaco in 2019 after a two-year stint is believed to be the most likely person to be appointed.
Ajax’s Marc Overmars had also been heavily linked with the role, as had Frank McParland, who had previously worked with Liverpool and Rangers.
