Nigeria’s Path To Progress: Tunji Alausa, Other Ministers Meet Tinubu To Map Out AU Summit Strategy

Eko Hot Blog reports that, in a strategic move ahead of the 37th AU Heads of States plenary session, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu orchestrated a crucial briefing with attending ministers.

The briefing, which unfolded on Saturday, delved into key sectors such as finance, defense, health, education, and national security, aligning closely with the compact agreement signed with the president last year.

In November 2023, all ministers in President Tinubu’s cabinet signed a performance bond, which they hope to leverage on to impact the lives of Nigerians within the shortest possible time.

The bond was signed after a three-day Cabinet retreat for Ministers, Presidential Aides, Permanent Secretaries and Top Government Functionaries.

Closing the function, Tinubu tasked the ministers to do everything within their strength to change the narrative and bring prosperity to Nigerians.

In Addis Ababa, the president’s meeting with his ministers underscored the vital importance of propelling progress across diverse sectors, emphasizing the need to bolster Nigeria’s capacity for increased productivity.

President Tinubu, expressing anticipation for the upcoming plenary sessions, eagerly welcomed in-depth discussions about Nigeria’s domestic plans and potential collaborative ventures.

The focus of the AU Summit discussions closely adheres to the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda, covering key aspects such as:

1. The operationalization of the African Medicine Agency, aimed at regulating medicines produced and distributed across Africa.

2. A strategic initiative to enhance diagnostic facilities and kits in Nigeria and Africa, with a notable emphasis on the production of locally sourced kits.

3. Crafting an action plan in conjunction with the African CDC to address disease control, prevalence, and prevention.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa, who was one of the ministers who met with the president, reiterated the administration’s unwavering commitment to propelling progress.

“Our primary focus is to drive progress across sectors and elevate Nigeria’s capacity to become a more productive nation,” he said.

“Mr President is looking forward to plenary sessions to discuss our in-country plans and collaboration opportunities,” the minister’s office added.

The AU Summit stands as a pivotal platform for fostering cross-country collaboration, nurturing regional development, and promoting cooperation.
