Nigeria’s Super Falcons Wonder Strike Wins French Award

Desire Oparanoize’s wonder goal against Paris FC Women on Sunday has won the Goal of the Week in the French women’s league, Sports Extra reports.

The goal ended her eight months drought.

The Guingamp striker received the honour for her 40 yards strike in the 92nd minute, which earned her side a 2-0 victory over Paris FC Women.

Louise Fleury had scored the opener for Guingamp in the 73rd minute.

Oparanoize got 48 per cent of the total votes cast for the award to emerge the winner.

Other contenders for the award were Olympique Marseille’s Saki Kumagai who bagged 35 percent,Bordeaux’s Khadija Shaw had 13 percent while Marina Makanza of FC Fleury 91,had three percent of the votes casted.

Guingamp, who are fifth in the French women’s league standings, will face Montpellier in their next league game on Saturday.
