Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has named a 20-player squad for Nigeria’s U-17 girls, the Flamingos, ahead of the WAFU B U-17 Girls’ Cup, which kicks off on Thursday. Among the selected players are FIFA World Cup scorers Shakirat Moshood and Harmony Chidi.
Also included in the squad are goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defenders Taiwo Adegoke and Ayomide Ibrahim, midfielder Faridat Abdulwahab, and forwards Peace Effiong and Mary Lucky Nkpa.

The Flamingos are placed in Group B of the two-week tournament, where they will face the U-17 teams of Niger Republic and Ivory Coast. Group A features hosts Ghana and Benin Republic, after the withdrawal of Burkina Faso, with Togo also pulling out earlier.
Nigeria’s U-17 girls recently reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, scoring nine goals in the group stage before being knocked out by the United States in the last eight.
