NiMet Forecasts Three Days Widespread Thunderstorms, Rainfall Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across various regions in Nigeria from Sunday to Tuesday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the outlook released on Saturday, northern states—including Borno, Jigawa, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Gombe—will experience thunderstorms in the morning on Sunday, with stormy conditions expected to continue throughout the afternoon and evening.

In the North Central region, which includes the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau, morning thunderstorms and rain are anticipated, with these conditions extending throughout the day.

Southern cities are expected to start with cloudy skies, followed by intermittent rainfall later in the day.

For Monday, NiMet forecasts morning thunderstorms in Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa, Yobe, and Jigawa, with the stormy weather persisting into the afternoon and evening across the northern states. The North Central region, including the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara, will also experience thunderstorms and rain throughout the day.

Southern states are predicted to have cloudy skies with intermittent rain throughout the day.

On Tuesday, thunderstorms are expected in parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna in the morning, with the northern region likely to see cloudy skies later. In the North Central area, Niger and Kwara may experience morning thunderstorms and rain, while Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue could see similar conditions in the afternoon and evening. Southern regions are expected to face intermittent rain throughout the day.
