NIN: Large Crowd Storm Lagos NIMC Office As Deadline Draws Closer
Thousands of Nigerians have stormed the National Identity Management Commission in Lagos to register for the National Identification Number.
The crowd refrained from social distancing, putting more people at risk of contracting the dreaded coronavirus., EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
This occurs as the deadline for enrollment approaches.
A lot of people are worried about losing their lines if they don’t register.
A statement from the NIMC indicates that the exercise will be completed around February.

The statement said, “The National Task Force on NIN and SIM Registration met today (yesterday). Motions adopted at the meeting includes.: that FG agreed to a three-week extension for subscribers. with NIN from December 30, 2020 to January 19; Another six-week extension for subscribers. without NIN from December 30, 2020 to February 9, 2021.
“The NIMC provided strategies for permitting citizens to assist with enrolment in accordance with COVID-19 protocols., including the continued mandatory use of masks and keeping people socially distanced.
“The President gratefully acknowledges the patience and commitment of the Nigerians. The federal government also appreciates all stakeholders for complying with the guidelines. The president also welcomed the Task Force’s efforts and encouraged all stakeholders to make the most of the extension to connect their SIM card with their NIN and USSD and verification charges stay on hold for these extensions.”
