Meanwhile, the masses were seen causing chaos and disobeying security orders within the environment while trying to force their way into the MTN office.
In easing the tension, officials of MTN Telecommunication were seen with a speaker to address the affected customers, noting that the line deactivation was directly from the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) and not the telecommunication company.
In expressing his grievance, an affected individual, Sulaimon Raheem, who claimed to have been around since 4:30 am described MTN as wicked and inhuman. “I am not afraid to speak,” he said. “I can tell you that MTN people are very wicked and rubbish,” he added.
Amidst the chaos, some people were seen to have gained entrance into the compound but were left stranded due to what officials described as a “server error” from the NIN web portal.
Crowds were seen taking their leave after an announcement that NCC had ordered that immediate Reactivation of all numbers affected by NIN-SIM verification.
