Nine passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries on the night of Tuesday, September 10, when a J5 bus with registration number NH 148 ARL plunged into river along Ideani/Nnobi road, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State after four vehicles were involved in an accident.
Confirming the incident in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Haruna Muhammed, said the accident which occurred at about 8pm was between a petroleum tanker with registration number LEH 37 XA, a Mercedez Benz lorry with number XM 370 ENU, an L300 bus with number XG 680 FGG and the J5 bus.
“Police patrol team led by DPO Nnobi Division visited the scene, rescued the victims and rushed them to two hospitals with the assistance of people in the area,” Haruna disclosed.
He said that no life was lost but nine victims involved were responding to treatment although one of them was critically injured and was at the intensive care unit in one of the hospitals.
