According to talkSPORT (Yahoo! Sport), Ruud van Nistelrooy has already applied for the vacant managerial position at Championship club Coventry City.

Taking on this role would see Van Nistelrooy challenge himself in England’s second tier, a move that underscores his determination to return to managerial work, with aspirations of eventually managing in the Premier League.

Coventry are seeking a new manager following the recent dismissal of former Manchester United player and FA Cup winner Mark Robins.

Van Nistelrooy, who gained managerial experience with PSV Eindhoven, is eager to make a swift return to management after a brief interim stint at Old Trafford.

Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is also reportedly in contention for the Coventry job.
