The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a warning that it will initiate a nationwide strike if its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, is detained by the Nigeria Police.
This declaration came on Tuesday morning, shortly after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the NLC headquarters to address the recent police invitation extended to Ajaero over allegations of terrorism financing.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that during the meeting, the NEC resolved that Ajaero should comply with the police invitation.
However, the union’s legal adviser has been tasked with seeking an extension to allow more time for the NLC President to appear before the police authorities.
Comrade Ado Kabiru Sani, the NLC Deputy President, emphasized the union’s stance, urging the nation’s workforce to remain on high alert and prepared for further instructions. He stressed that if the police act against their expectations by detaining Ajaero, the NLC will not hesitate to call for a nationwide strike in response.
His words: “As a committed labor center, we will honor the invitation of the police because we are not a faceless organization, but we are working with our lawyer for an extension of time.
