FG Holds Meeting With NLC, TUC Over Petrol Price Increase

The Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration convened with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) on Wednesday.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, primarily focused on the nation’s current status, with particular emphasis on petrol pricing.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that sources informed Vanguard that the meeting took place at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

Key figures present at the session included Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA); Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of Labour; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Also in attendance were Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information; Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), alongside representatives from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Limited.

Meanwhile the House of Representatives has waded into the increase in the pump price of petroleum products, demanding an urgent reversal of the hike in the price of the fuel and cooking gas.

In a motion moved by the Deputy Minority Leader, Aliyu Madaki, and sponsored by 111 members of the house, the House called for the immediate reversal of the price increase in petrol and cooking gas.

According to the lawmakers, the hike has caused severe hardship on Nigerians and is threatening job security in the country.
