The NMA therefore urged the striking doctors to consider suspending its strike while it engages the Federal Government to meet their sundry demands.

Speaking with The Nation, the First Vice President of NARD, Dr Chima Edoga, said: “The meeting ended in a rowdy session but the NMA is appealing to NARD to consider suspending the strike while they take up the items that they signed in the Memorandum of Understanding with the government.

“The NARD will have its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting tomorrow (today) to reach a decision. We made it clear that the timelines set by the government in the memorandum of understanding have elapsed. So we want to give the government more time to implement everything that is in the memorandum of understanding signed with the NMA.”
