Nnamdi Kanu Arrives Abuja Court For Trial
-
Nnamdi Kanu has arrived Abuja court for trial.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has arrived the Federal High Court in Abuja, the venue of his trial over allegations of terrorism and treasonable felony.
This online news platform reports that although his visuals could not be gotten, he was however believed to be among a convoy of about six vehicles that drove into the court premises around 8am on Thursday morning by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS).
The convoy was led by a black Prado jeep, followed by two Hilux, two buses and other two other Hilux.
EKOHOTBLOG had earlier reported that before the arrival of the IPOB leader, security operatives including DSS, Nigerian Army, Police and the NSCDC had condoned off all entrances leading to the headquarters of the Federal High Court.
Nnamdi Kanu is being tried before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court over charges of treasonable felony and terrorism.
It would be recalled that the IPOB leader, who was granted bail in April 2017, fled Nigeria after the invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia, Abia State, by the military in September, a situation one of Kanu’s lawyers, Alloy Ejimakor described as the “rule of self-preservation.”

This online news platform further recalls that on June 29, 2021, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, announced that Nnamdi Kanu had been rearrested and extradited to Nigeria to continue facing his trial.
Malami added that the IPOB leader was “intercepted” days earlier but did not disclose which country and how the operation was carried out.
Although there has been no official disclosure about where and how Kanu was arrested, relatives and lawyers of Nnamdi Kanu have described how he was taken into custody in Kenya under controversial circumstances.
