NNPP Crisis: Kwankwanso To Change Party Logo

Eko Hot Blog reports that the New Nigeria’s People Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, at the 2023 general elections, Senator Rabiu Kwankwanso, with other members of the party have made the move to amend the party’s constitution and logo.

The party’s National Auditor, Ladipo Johnson, confirmed in an interview that the party is working toward amending the constitution following the internal crisis in the party and suspension of National Leader, Kwankwanso.

The Board of Trustees of the party announced the suspension of the party leader during the general assembly meeting held in Lagos recently.

However, following Kwankwanso’s suspension and his failure to appear before the party panel, the party took a decision to expel him from the party in a statement released on Tuesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq.

On the other hand, a faction of the Kwankwanso camp in the party were alleged to change the party logo and amend its constitution in order to weaken the grasp of the founder of the party, Dr Boniface Aniebonam.

The chairman of the disciplinary committee and national auditor, Johnson, however, debunked that the move was a response to the emergence of a faction within the party.

“No, it has nothing to do with any faction. It was something we already discussed at the NEC. Unlike them (Agbo faction), we are serious people. But we haven’t changed the logo yet. We are planning to throw it out there for our members to compete and come up with ideas,” he said.

In response to the allegation, the acting National Chairman, Major Agbo, said the party was aware of the ingenious move of the faction to change the party logo, which they believed was directed to cripple the impunity of the party founder.

“Obviously, the proposed amendment to the constitution and changing of logo they are talking about was deliberate. That was because they discovered suddenly that the man they are after (the founder) has immunity by the provision of that constitution. That’s why they are in a hurry to amend it.” Agbo said.
