EKO HOT BLOG reports that Aare Wemmy Olumide Osude was sworn in as the Chairman of Ilisan Development Association on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
The ceremony took place at the Ilisan Town Hall, Ilisan, Lagos with a multitude of guests in attendance.

The newly elected chairman made an opening statement, announcing that the occasion is the day that they will begin the “CAMPAIGN FOR A GREATER ILISAN”.
He attributed the significance of the day to its sanctification by the Almighty God.
Aare Osude expressed belief that their campaign has been blessed by God, and they are embarking on this journey with divine guidance and support.
“Today is the day. The day our Almighty God has sanctified for the CAMPAIGN FOR A GREATER ILISAN TO BEGIN,” he said.
“Firstly, I thank God for making it possible for us to see the beginning of this new day and a new dawn in community development initiatives in Ilisan Remo. Next, I most graciously thank those family members and friends who have stood by me since we commenced the race to become the Chairman of Ilisan Development Association (I.D.A).
“I thank you for reaching out to me, intervening in my favour, waiting for me with open arms when I felt emotionally drained, when I got home very late every night, or with blessings for my life. To my campaign team, ably led by Oloye Owopele Shonowo, Balogun Sanya Odugbesan (Aragbadajogu) and Coach Ismaila Ogunsanya.
“You guys are the best. My very sincere gratitude to Apapo Omooba of Ilisan, a duly registered association under the I.D.A and consisting of eminent and distinguished personalities from the eight (8) ruling houses in Ilisan, for finding me worthy of their sponsorship and unflinching support.
“I have an endless list of people that deserve my deep appreciation, but permit me to thank all sons and daughters of Ilisan in general for the mandate and rare opportunity they’ve given me and my team to serve our beloved City of Hope.”
The new chairman expressed his utmost respect and appreciation for the people who held his position before him.
He specifically mentioned two of his predecessors: Chief Tinuoye Soneyin, who was the very first Chairman of Ilisan Development Council, and Sir Mufutau Oyegunle, who served as the Chairman before him.
Aare Osude praised their work and contribution to the council, acknowledging their efforts in leading the community to progress.
“Permit me also to pay glowing tributes to my predecessors in office, starting from our very first Chairman of Ilisan Development Council Chief Tinuoye Soneyin, to the immediate past chairman, Sir Mufutau Oyegunle,” he said.
“I also can not forget a honourable mention and appreciation of the outgoing executives and all those that served this community. On behalf of our Royal Father, Alayeluwa Oba Mojeed Sonuga the Olofin of Ilisan, and the entire Ilisan community, we thank you for serving your people to the best of your ability and writing your names in the Book of Legends.”
Aare Osude, who won the I.D.A chairmanship race, attributed his success to both the grace of God and the support he received from others. He expressed his desire to give back to the community by making significant improvements to the position he now holds.
He promised to deliver excellent performance by using his determination, expertise, knowledge, and experience.
“By the grace of God and with your support, I won the I.D.A chairmanship race. The best way to reciprocate the love and support of everyone of you is to give a new meaning to the position with cutting-edge performance,” Aare Osude.
“And that is a PROMISE. I have the spirit, willpower, knowledge and experience. I know Ilisan inside out. I went to St. Barnabas primary school, RSS in Sagamu and back to Adventist Seminary (now Babcock University) in Ilisan for my higher education.
“Even though I left Ilisan for almost 25 years, Ilisan never left me. I continued to seek the fortune of Ilisan.”
Aare Osude, the newly elected Chairman, presented his retinue of Executives and announced that he will be guiding them for the next three years. He expressed confidence in their abilities, describing them as highly skilled, motivated, and intelligent individuals.

“We will make a positive difference and move Ilisan in the right direction. I will provide a purposeful leadership. Every decision will be about what’s best for Ilisan, always relating our decisions and actions to the public good. We will work closely with our dear Kabiyesi and other traditional institutions to ensure peace, unity and progress.”
Aare Osude further stated that he will initiate a Community Regeneration Programme (CRP) that will focus on four key pillars.
“Firstly, we will prioritize the safety and security of the community. Secondly, we will work towards improving fundraising efforts and establish a strong fiscal policy to ensure the efficient use of resources,” he continued.
“Thirdly, we will promote mutually beneficial social interactions between the local people and non-indigenes of Ilisan. Finally, we will focus on developing the human capital within the community, empowering and equipping people with the necessary skills to contribute positively to the growth and development of Ilisan.
“As the Chairman, I will implement a Community Regeneration Programme (CRP) that will be anchored on
1. Security
2. Improved Fundraising and sound fiscal policy
3. Mutually beneficial social engagements between indigenes and non-indigenes of Ilisan
4. Human capital development.
“The Community Regeneration Program will be developed to include:
1. Asphalt roads with drainage
2. Town Market Square Development
3. Community Centres
4. Town Recreational Parks
5. Town Refuse management, Collection & Recycling
6. Road Signage Safety & Protection Measures
7. Township Rural Electrification Program
8. Small to Medium Township Water Reservoir, Treatment and Distribution Plants (boreholes).
9. Library services.
10. Technical skills acquisition opportunities for our teeming youths.
“The above project ideas need the active participation of all stakeholders in Ilisan, with confounding arrangements involving government and private sector that will create local jobs and improve the living standards of all residents of Ilisan. Such schemes will also reduce criminality and promote purposeful living amongst our unemployed youths.”
In the area of youth development, Aare Osude expressed the importance of equipping young people with the skills and abilities to think creatively, so that they can thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.
“Developing creative thinking skills will help the youth become capable leaders and make meaningful contributions to society in the future,” the new Ilisan development association chairman said.
“A greater Ilisan is our common interest. Working together with sincerity of purpose, I’m confident this is an achievable undertaking. We must relate in ways that further strengthens family bonds.
“We must shun behaviours and utterances that do not honor our responsibilities to each other. They reflect violence, which is never acceptable, and a denial of the humanity of members of our community, and at contrast to what we are and what we always want to be as a community.
