Youths under the banner of the Epe Concerned Group (ECG) have publicly declared their unwavering support for Ms. Surah Animashaun, the Chairman of Epe Local Government. This endorsement comes in light of her impressive achievements in infrastructural development, despite the economic challenges posed by fuel subsidy removal and limited funding.
Representing youths from all 8 wards in Epe Local Government Area (LGA) and the wider Epe division’s 19 wards, the ECG emphatically stated that no individual or opposition party could undermine the government of Ms. Animashaun. The group stressed that her mandate was a result of overwhelming support from Epe residents, who voted her into office two and a half years ago, under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
As Ms. Animashaun seeks a second term, the ECG reassured her of their continued backing. The group, through a statement signed by President-General Olayemi Toheeb Balogun and Publicity Secretary Ademola Olanrewaju, also issued a stern warning to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP). They accused the PDP of attempting to discredit Ms. Animashaun’s leadership through baseless campaigns and malicious propaganda.
The ECG highlighted that the PDP has been widely rejected in the local government area. They credited Ms. Animashaun with making significant strides in developmental projects and improving the welfare of Epe residents, setting a new standard among local government leaders in Lagos State.
While emphasizing its non-partisan stance, the ECG declared that it stands for truth, justice, and the progress of Epe Local Government. According to the group, they cannot stay silent while attempts are being made to tarnish the image of a leader who has transformed the council area.
“Ms. Animashaun has outperformed her predecessors, including Segun Agbaje and Adedoyin Adesanya, in terms of project execution and the well-being of the people. She has commissioned numerous projects that other local governments cannot rival. As she seeks a second term, we must continue to support her for the progress of our council,” the ECG President-General asserted.
The group also decried the actions of certain opposition figures, describing their behavior as undemocratic and anti-people. They accused these individuals of attempting to sabotage Ms. Animashaun’s efforts to restore the council’s glory and trying to seize the Chairmanship through deceit and manipulation.
“We are determined to see Ms. Animashaun lead Epe Local Government to even greater heights in her second term, and we call on all well-meaning residents to stand behind her,” the statement concluded.
