No Plot To Strip Shekarau Of Traditional Title – Kano

• As political differences deepen between Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Ibrahim Shekarau deepens, the Kano State Government has denied plot to strip the latter of his Sardauna of Kano traditional title.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that disagreements resurfaced shortly after All Progressives Congress (APC) last congresses, for which the Shekarau’s faction conducted parallel congress in the state.

Insinuation to strip Shekarau of his Sardaunan Kano title became rife and that Ganduje was mounting pressure on the Kano Emirate Council for his removal as payback for his disloyalty.

Responding to the allegations, Special Adviser to Governor Ganduje on Chieftaincy Affairs, Tijjani Mailafiya Sanka, said: “The speculations are nothing but imagination of their purveyors and they have no basis.”

“Governor Ganduje is a generous pleasant-hearted person, who even repay evil with good, just like in the case of Shekarau himself, when he sponsored him to the Senate.

“In 2019 when Shekarau lost in politics, Ganduje anointed and encouraged him to contest the Kano Central Senatorial District slot.

“Ganduje did that with an open mind despite the fact that Shekarau has been battling the former government from 2003 to 2015, but as somebody who ignores bad deeds, Ganduje still considered Shekarau for the Senate position,” he stated.

He explained that the title of Shekarau Sardauna had nothing to do with Governor Ganduje, adding: “As governor, if Shekarau is eventually removed, I think the story might have emanated from the Shekarau circle for fear of their misdeeds in the Ganduje camp.”

Sanka said the bone of contention bothered on APC congresses, which the national headquarters has since recognised the congress of the Ganduje’s group, adding that Shekarau and others were not happy so they could cook up any story against the governor.
