Nollywood Actress, Laide Bakare Bags Doctorate Degree

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Arts and Humanities from the American University of Peace and Governance (AUPG) in the USA.

Eko Hot Blog reports that Bakare known for her notable contributions to the Nigerian film industry, has now joined the ranks of esteemed doctorate degree holders.

The actress took to her Instagram page to share photos from the conferment ceremony.

She announced that it is now official to address her as “Hon. (Dr.) Laide Bakare,” expressing gratitude and dedicating the honour to her commitment to governance, leadership, and service to humanity.

Laide’s heartfelt caption read:

“This honor bestowed on me as a Doctor Of Arts & Humanities (Honoris Causa) by the American University of Peace and Governance, USA, is a motivation geared towards dedication to Governance, leadership, and service to humanity.

I am using this medium to appreciate His Excellency, Amb. Dr. Jonathan Ojadah, Chairman of the Supreme Council of American University of Peace and Governance, USA.”

The mother of three also paid tribute to Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, whom she described as her mentor and a source of inspiration.

She praised his strong support and dedication to national development, noting his passion for the growth of Osun State.

Eko Hot Blog reports that earlier in the year Bakare was  appointed as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun on Entertainment, Arts, Culture and Tourism.

Laide Bakare’s film Jejere won the 2012 Best of Nollywood Awards in the Best Constume Design category.

She was also nominated for Most Outstanding Actress Indigenous Category at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008 for her role in the film Iranse Aje.
