Nollywood Legend Jide Kosoko Present As Ikeja Club Installs New Leadership In Lagos

Members of the Ikeja Club, a social club based in Lagos State, on Friday, gathered to witness the investiture of Aare Musediq Adebayo Adeleke as the new president of the club.

This marks a pivotal moment in the organization’s history, heralding an era of fresh leadership, vision, and hope.

The investiture provided an occasion to reflect on the challenges of the past, embracing the promise of the future with the wealth of experience that President Adeleke brings to the highest office.

As the members celebrated the New Year, bidding farewell to the trials of the past, the event symbolised unity, optimism, and the collective resilience of the Ikeja Club community.

Adding an extra layer of glamour to the occasion, the iconic Prince Jide Kosoko, one of the fathers of Nollywood, who recently clocked 70, graced the event as a distinguished guest in the company of Aremo of Epe, Otunba TJ Abass.

The celebration took a special turn as the attendees joined in commemorating Prince Kosoko’s birthday, presenting him with heartfelt wishes and a membership certificate to honour his association with the prestigious club.

The dual celebration serves as a powerful reminder that in times of change, strength is found in unity.

As the Ikeja Club embarks on a new journey under President Adeleke’s leadership, the shared commitment to building a better tomorrow resonates throughout the community.

The presence of Nollywood luminary Jide Kosoko added a touch of glamour, making this investiture and New Year celebration truly unforgettable.

Ikeja Club, described by one of the foundation members as “a child of circumstance” came into being following the realisation of the need for a serene place of decent relaxation and socialisation after work.

The initial idea came from Alhaji A.T. Animashaun, who drew from his experience as a member of the Black Table in Blackburn, Lancashire, England.

He invited Late Chief S.O Onasanya and Late S.A. Otunkoya. The three gentlemen met at the then Victoria Hotel, Ikeja, where Animashauan disclosed his vision of a prominent social club.

The three founding fathers agreed to invite other friends who attended the maiden meeting on 27 July, 1966 at Victoria Hotel, Ikeja.

For almost 58 years, Ikeja Club has provided a relaxation home for thousands of people with various games, including billiard, chess, and lawn tennis, amongst others.
