North Korea’s Top Diplomat Heads to Russia
North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui has embarked on a journey to Russia, where she will participate in the fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum and the BRICS Women’s Forum in Saint Petersburg.
The Russian embassy in North Korea confirmed her departure from Pyongyang International Airport, where she was seen off by Russian Ambassador Alexander Ivanovich Matsegora.
During the forum, which takes place from September 18 to 20, Minister Choe is scheduled to deliver speeches and engage in discussions.
The event is expected to draw delegations from nearly a hundred countries, according to Valentina Matviyenko, speaker of the Federation Council, Russia’s upper house of parliament.

While Russian President Vladimir Putin has attended previous forums, his participation in this year’s event has not been confirmed by the Kremlin.
However, the relationship between Russia and North Korea has been strengthening, culminating in a mutual defense pledge signed by Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a visit to Pyongyang.
The United States and its allies have accused North Korea of supplying weapons to Russia for its war in Ukraine in exchange for economic and military assistance, a claim denied by both Moscow and Pyongyang.
Despite this, the partnership between the two nations continues to grow.
