‘Nothing But Success’ – Ten Hag Bids Farewell To Man United

Erik ten Hag has expressed his heartfelt wishes for “nothing but success, trophies, and glory” to Manchester United fans after his departure on Monday.

The 54-year-old was dismissed after United’s 2-1 Premier League loss to West Ham last weekend. Sporting’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, has been appointed as Ten Hag’s permanent successor.

In a statement shared by his representatives, SEG, Ten Hag extended his gratitude to the fans, reflecting on his two-trophy tenure with the club.

“Thank you for always being there for the club,” he said. “Whether it was at a game far away or a tough match at Old Trafford, your support has been unshakeable. The atmosphere at Old Trafford has always been electrifying, thanks to you.

“I also want to thank the staff in every department of the club for their unwavering support in good times and bad.”

The former Ajax manager joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and quickly ended the club’s six-year trophy drought by securing the Carabao Cup and guiding them to a third-place finish in the Premier League during his debut season.

Ten Hag also led United to an FA Cup final victory over rivals Manchester City in May. However, the club slipped to an eighth-place league finish and a disappointing start to the 2024-25 season, with United sitting 14th after nine games, ultimately led to his dismissal.

“We won two trophies – achievements that I will cherish for the rest of my life,” added Ten Hag.

“Of course my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet. Unfortunately, that dream has come to an end.

“I wish all Manchester United fans nothing but success, trophies and glory.

“Your support, and the warmth I received from everyone at the club, helped me feel at home. Thank you for this chapter in my life.”
