NPFL Club, Remo Stars Fined N1.25M For Assault On Referee

Nigerian football league club, Remo Stars have been hit with a hard fine of N1.25m and a deduction of 3 points.

The incident took place on Sunday, resulting in the game being abandoned at halftime then completed the following Monday morning.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Remo Stars Football Club has been fined N1.25m and docked three points and three goals by the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for assaulting a match official during their match against Gombe United.
The incident took place on Sunday, causing the game to be abandoned at halftime and completed on Monday morning.

According to a summary jurisdiction notice signed by Davidson Owumi, the Head of Operations of the NPFL, Remo Stars breached several rules in the league’s framework. The club was fined N500,000 for failing to secure match officials leading to the assault on Ukah Ndubuisi, who will receive N250,000 in compensation.
The club was also found guilty of disturbances and disruptions, leading to the discontinuation of the league match, and was fined an additional N500,000.
Ekene Adams, the general manager of Remo Stars, who was identified as the attacker, has been banned from all NPFL activities for the rest of the season. Furthermore, the club has been ordered to ensure diligent prosecution of Adams in the law court.
Remo Stars is required to respond in writing within 48 hours of the notice to submit to the rulings of the IMC or elect to appear before a disciplinary panel. The fines are also payable within seven working days.
