In other news, Heartland FC, a former Nigerian champion, recently faced relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the third time in their history. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the club is considering purchasing a slot from NNL champions, Beyond Limits, to secure a place in the NPFL for the upcoming season.
Additionally, Heartland FC has appointed former Super Eagles star and FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning coach Emmanuel Amuneke as their new head coach. Amuneke, who recently served as a consultant for the club and managed their open player trials, was previously linked to the Super Eagles coaching job, which eventually went to Finidi George.
