NPFL Match-day Results: Rangers Hold Top Spot, Sunshine Climb Out Of Relegation Zone

Eko Hot Blog reports that Enugu Rangers solidified their position at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League with a decisive 3-0 victory over Bayelsa United, who are battling relegation, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.

Godwin Obaje netted twice for Enugu Rangers, opening the scoring in the 41st minute and adding a second goal in the 66th.

Chiedozie Okorie sealed the victory with a third goal two minutes later.

This win helped the seven-time champions maintain their four-point lead over reigning champions Enyimba and Remo Stars.

Meanwhile, in Umuahia, Benard Ovoke scored a 72nd-minute winner for Enyimba, securing a 1-0 victory against local rivals Abia Warriors to keep the pressure on Rangers.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars dropped from second to third in the table after a 3-2 defeat against Kwara United in Ilorin.

Despite late goals from Franck Mawuena and Dayo Ojo for Daniel Ogunmodede’s side.

They couldn’t overcome the efforts of Wasiu Alalade, Isaiah Ejeh, and an own goal by Ahmed Akinyele for Kwara United.

Elsewhere, 3SC are now seven points behind leaders Rangers after an exciting 2-2 draw against Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

However, the battle to avoid relegation remains intense as Sunshine Stars moved out of the drop zone.

Despite a goalless draw with Bendel Insurance in Akure.

Meanwhile, Akwa United secured a crucial 2-1 victory away at Lobi Stars, moving up to 15th place.

Both teams, however, remain just above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Doma United, who were high-flyers in the first half of the campaign, now find themselves in the relegation zone after a 2-1 loss to Kano Pillars.
