Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have busted pipeline vandals in Ogere, in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The vandals upon sighting the security operatives, reportedly took to their heels, abandoning their tools, including 302 empty jerrycans.
A spokesperson for the NSCDC in the state, Ogbonnaya Dyke, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Dyke said the vandals escaped into the bush after sighting the corps, adding that they abandoned their tools and the jerrycans they planned to use to siphon fuel from the vandalised pipelines.
He said, “Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Wednesday voided an intending strike on a pipeline right of way in Antenna, Ogere I, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state by destroying over 302 kegs meant to be used for vandalisation by alleged vandals.
“The state Commandant, Hammed Abodunrin, who had instituted a new way of proactive intelligence and strategy which would discourage any intention to commit such heinous crime by irritant vandals, disclosed that the corps would use all available tactics to curb attacks on pipelines across the state.”
