NSIB Begins Investigation Of Glided United Nigeria Airline Aircraft
Eko Hot Blog reports that the NSIB has begun investigation of an airline belonging to United Nigerian Airlines, that glided while trying to land on the runway on Friday, September 8.

The airline, Embraer ERJ145, registration number 5N-BWY with 51 passengers and 4 crew members aboard was reported to have swerved on the runway at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport during the Friday downpour in Lagos.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, was, however notified of the incident which occurred around 6pm on Friday.
Few hours later, the Bureau released a statement addressing the incident on Saturday. The statement, released by the Bureau through the General Manager of the Public Affairs in person of Tunji Oketunbi and signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, James Odaudu, read that the aircraft glided upon landing on Runway 18R of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
Oketunbi added that there was no record of casualty from any passenger or crew member aboard.
In addition to the released statement, the Head of Corporate Communications of the airlines, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, said the flight which took off from the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri had successfully operated and landed at its destination in Lagos.
The aircraft’s tyres were reported to have lost firmness due to the drenched surface of the runway caused by the Friday downpour during its descension on the runway.
