Eko Hot Blog reports the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has petitioned the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Benue State over the abduction of one of its staff members, Thomas Tikyaa, by gunmen on the Otukpo-Ugbokolo-Enugu highway in the state.
Tikyaa, a chief accountant with NTA, was among other passengers returning to Makurdi from Onitsha in Anambra State on Sunday when the Benue Links bus he was traveling in was hijacked by gunmen.
In a letter of complaint dated September 18, NTA Zonal Director Pam Dung Nyam urged the police to intervene promptly.
“I wish to formally report the kidnapping of the above-mentioned staff of NTA who was recently redeployed from NTA Network Centre, Makurdi, to NTA Onitsha, Anambra State,” Nyam wrote.
“The ugly incident occurred around 10pm yesterday 17th September, 2023, between Ugbokolo and Otukpa on his way to Makurdi to visit his family while on board a Benue Links bus.
“In the light of the above, we would like to solicit your kind assistance for his rescue and safely return to his family. I shall be very grateful for your prompt intervention in this regard.”
Meanwhile, a family source told journalists that the abductors had opened talks and demanded a N60m ransom for the victim.
