Nuclear Plant Technology: Generating Power
As nuclear power plant technology is deemed to be a low-carbon energy source, the technology is widely thought of as a more environmentally-friendly alternative.
When described as renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind, the power generation from nuclear power plants are also considered to be more reliable.
Although the investment required to bring a nuclear power plant online is significant, the costs involved in operating them are relatively low.
Nuclear energy sources also amass a higher density than fossil fuels and release large amounts of energy.
The conversion to electrical energy takes place indirectly, as in basic thermal power depots. The fission in a nuclear reactor heats the reactor coolant. The coolant may be water or gas, or even liquid metal, depending on the type of reactor. The reactor coolant then goes to a steam generator and heats water to produce steam. The pressurized steam is then usually fed to a multi-stage steam turbine.

Due to this, nuclear power plants require low quantities of fuel but produce a vast amount of power, giving rise to them particularly efficient once they are up and moving.
Nuclear plants are usually considered to be baseload stations since fuel is a small part of the cost of generation and because they cannot be easily or quickly dispatched.
Their operations, maintenance, and fuel costs are at the low end of the spectrum, making them suitable as base-load power suppliers. However, the expenditure of proper long term radioactive waste storage is unlikely and that makes nuclear power plant technology less even.
