NUJ Chairman Is Dead

Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Victoria Asher, has passed away.

Asher was Chairman of the Benue chapter of the association.

Secretary of NUJ Benue Council, Moses Akaahan, confirmed Asher’s demise in a statement on Saturday.

He disclosed that Asher died at Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi after caesarian session surgery around 8am on Saturday.

The statement said Benue NUJ Council will give notice for an emergency congress to that effect in due course.

Asher becomes the second Benue NUJ chairman to die in office.

Her predecessor, David Ukuma, was in office for less than six months before he died.
