Ekohotblog reports that the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has promised workers that he will reward their hard work.
He made this pledge on Monday, during the First Quarter Worker’s Forum, organized by the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
At the event, Hon. Olowa gave an approval to the long-awaited request for a staff bus to make transportation easier for workers.
The event also included free medical checkup and free medication for all staffs present.
The State President of NULGE, Comrade Sewanu Sunday Ogunfowora and other key officials were present at the occasion.
In his speech, Hon. Olowa highlighted the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to improve Nigeria’s economy.
He encouraged all workers to be dedicated and professional in their duties.
“The request for a staff bus is granted,” Hon. Olowa said, as the workers cheered.
“We know how important transportation is for you, and we want to help make things easier.”
Hon. Olowa also stressed the importance of good health and told them his plans on improving the health insurance scheme for staff.
“Health is wealth, and we want to make sure our workers are healthy so they can be more productive,” he explained.
He also promised special rewards for the upcoming festive season.
“There will surely be rewards for hard work, but we must work together as a team to achieve this.”
NULGE President, Comrade Sewanu Sunday Ogunfowora, thanked Hon. Olowa for supporting the workers.
“The Chairman cares about the welfare of workers, and we must do our part by being dedicated to our jobs. Better days are coming,” Comrade Ogunfowora said.
Branch Chairman, Comrade Adaranijo Liafiz Lawal, also expressed his appreciation for the Chairman’s monthly welfare package of two million naira and palliatives for workers.
“We are grateful for all the support from the Chairman. I encourage all workers to stay focused and avoid absenteeism so that their hard work will be rewarded.”
Other officials present at the event are Comrade Kazeem Apena, the Welfare State Officer, Mr. Abiodun Oladipupo Otinwa, the Council Manager, Mr. Onabanjo Sunday, the Council Treasurer, Mr. Shotubo Adeyemi, the Human Resource Officer, Heads of Departments, and NULGE Exco members. The event showed the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of its workers and ensuring they remain productive.
