NUT Challenges Edo State Government, Says No Resumption

  • The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Edo State chapter as comes out to dispute the resumption date announced by the Edo state government that all primary and secondary schools should resume on the 1st of February 2021.

Last week Edo state government Secretary announced the resumption date for all public schools in the state signed by Mr. Osarodion Ogie.

But the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Edo state council has now declared that no teachers should resume, that strike should continue despite the fact the state government says no work no pay.

This happens due to non payment of outstanding arrears of some promoted teachers in some local government of the state and poor welfare of the teachers in the states, in which the state government fail to address since last year.

According to Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Edo state chairman on Sunday, Mr. Pius Okhueleigbe says the strike will continue until all their demands are met by the state government.
