NYCN Iba LCDA Coordinator, Taiwo Ismaila Babatunde, Calls for Peaceful Elections Among Youths

As the election season draws near, Comrade Taiwo Ismaila Babatunde, Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Iba LCDA, has issued a strong call to action, urging youths to become ambassadors of peace, maturity, and unity during the electoral process.
Ekohotblog gathers that speaking during a press briefing, Babatunde emphasized the critical role of young people in safeguarding democracy, stressing that the power of youth must be directed towards building, not breaking, their community.

“Elections are not just about casting votes; they are an opportunity for us to demonstrate leadership, dignity, and commitment to peace,” he said. “We must show that we are the standard bearers for responsible civic engagement.”
He warned against the manipulation of youths by political actors seeking to sow division and chaos, describing such exploitation as a direct attack on the future of the younger generation.
Citing Dr. Bolarinwa Omotosho, President of the Anchor Leadership Academy, Babatunde urged young people to reject electoral violence and political thuggery.
Babatunde further emphasized that despite political differences, the unity and brotherhood among community members must not be broken.
“Our political affiliations may differ, but our common identity as friends, family, and neighbors must always come first,” he noted. “We must never allow elections to tear apart the fabric of our community.”
He also advised the youths to stay informed, avoid spreading misinformation, and encourage active but peaceful participation in the democratic process, especially through the responsible use of social media.
In his closing remarks, Babatunde called on Iba LCDA youths to be shining examples of integrity and leadership, turning this election season into a testament of their growth and vision for a peaceful and prosperous future.
“We must rise above violence and division. Let the youths of Iba LCDA be the shining light for others to follow,” he declared.
